Aims and Scope

WSK Online is a dictionary e-resource covering all the major areas of linguistics and communication science. The dictionaries steer a course between semantic definition and comprehensive knowledge, combining the best of both approaches.

This e-resource offers:

  • Precise definitions
  • Thorough explanations
  • Synonyms and/or antonyms where applicable
  • Detailed bibliographic information
  • Annual updates of approximately 3,000 articles

Hundreds of researchers from around the world have contributed to the WSK Online project, ensuring that the lexicographic output adheres to the most rigorous academic standards. All area editors are experts in their respective fields. The articles are in German (with English translations of the terms and definitions) or in English (with German translations of the terms and definitions).
